Center for Community Studies Delivers Results
The members of the Center for Community Studies primarily are drawn from the graduate faculty and students in the Ph.D. program in Community Research and Action in Vanderbilt University’s Peabody College. The Center also welcomes affiliation from academic colleagues outside the program who are pursuing collaborative or individual research related to the Center mission.
The work of the Center offers graduate students a wide range of opportunities to lead and collaborate in field-based action research in community psychology and community development. This research often is done in concert with community partners – government agencies, non-profit organizations, private sector partners, grass-roots groups and others – to define and address real-life needs and challenges locally, nationally and internationally. We maintain relationships with multiple community partners, which provides opportunities for students to collaborate on original research and gain experience through internships or practicum hours.
The activities of the Center also create on-going opportunities for students to interact with experts in their fields of interest and compete for research assistantships that support the work of the Center.
