Researchers Probe Pay Incentives for Teachers
The Department of Leadership, Policy and Organizations (LPO) of Peabody College, Vanderbilt University invites applications for three tenure-track faculty positions at the associate or full professor ranks in K-12 and higher education leadership and policy. Candidates should have an established program of research, a track record in securing external funding, a commitment to excellence in teaching (including undergraduates), and an interest in working collaboratively with other faculty, students and staff.
K-12 Education Leadership and Policy:
We request applications for a scholar whose work focuses on the assessment and evaluation of the impact of educational interventions and policies. The successful candidate will have teaching and research experience in complex social science research methodologies and their application in domestic and international educational settings from disciplinary backgrounds such as sociology of education, economics, or political science. This faculty member will teach both methodological classes, as well as core classes (for example, organizational behavior and governance, politics of education). For the second faculty position we are interested in candidates who study schools' organizational and environmental contexts and the linkages among leadership, learning, and teaching, and who use field research methodologies. The successful candidate will have teaching experience and a track record of field research involving district and school leaders and education policies in various school contexts and settings, including outside the United States. The faculty member will teach field research classes, as well as courses in the K-12 specialty areas such as curriculum policy, policy implementation, and leadership of educational reform. Higher Education Leadership and Policy:
We request applications from candidates whose research examines the ways in which institutional, state, federal or international policies and practices improve college student success. The new faculty member will teach classes pertaining to public policy, organizational behavior, or student success in higher education. The mission of the Department of Leadership, Policy and Organizations is to understand and enhance the political, economic, organizational, and social contexts in which human learning takes place. The department embraces multiple methodological and disciplinary approaches to the study of policies and practices that can improve outcomes for students and their families, and enhance organizational effectiveness and reform. The department operates graduate programs in K-12, international, and higher education leadership and policy (including an MPP degree), as well as an undergraduate major in leadership and organizational effectiveness, policy, and international education These programs are ranked among the highest in the nation.
