Researchers Probe Pay Incentives for Teachers
As a Peabody Ph.D. student you will be involved in exciting, next generation research right from the start. Among the issues LPO faculty and graduate students are examining:
· The effects of competition, including charter schools, on educational achievement.
· How to evaluate principals and teachers.
· Teacher incentives and performance pay.
· School zoning, parental involvement, the academic achievement gap, and re-segregation.
· Coaching and feedback for leadership change and development.
· Educational policymaking, including issues of school finance.
Leadership, Policy and Organizations Doctoral Core - 12 hours
Program (Core) - 9 hours
Intensive, weekly, Ph.D. student only; seminars/courses focused on deep exposure to theory, research and literature in program area.
Required Research Methods - 18 hours
Research Practicum - 6 hours
Group research endeavor, organized by area specialization, conceptualized and executed over first year of participants' Ph.D. program; meets bi-weekly during the year and as a "maymester" course.
Electives - 27 hours
