The national Head Start program grew out of work done at Peabody in the 1960s. Today our faculty members continue to transform the landscape of education and human development in high-profile ways.

Visual impairment education, mainstreaming, modern educational software, and early autism diagnosis all have roots at Peabody. Our work continues to evolve.

Our faculty design learning organizations, mentor inner-city kids, analyze national education trends and policies, prepare teachers and administrators to face the challenges of contemporary education, and more.

We integrate this practice-focused research into our programs of study, including:

Doctor of Education

Nationally ranked tracks in Higher Education Leadership and Policy or Educational Leadership and Policy enable Ed.D. students to advance in their professions.

Master of Education Degrees

Diverse programs include course work with top-notch faculty, consultation with practicing professionals, and experience and practica.

Peabody Professional Institutes

Short-term, intensive institutes focus on such topics as leadership for independent schools, academic libraries, or charter schools.

The Principals Leadership Academy of Nashville (PLAN)

Professionals integrate five dimensions of leadership training with a practical final project, under the aegis of Peabody’s Leadership Development Center.
