More students with disabilities heading to college

Our master’s candidates amass an impressive degree of professional practice and quickly establish substantial track records in their fields. They do so because we emphasize a broader, more holistic approach.
In Teaching and Learning, for example, students integrate classroom management techniques with deep understanding about how people learn. They master practical knowledge, such as how children from different cultures or how those with disabilities acquire language and math skills. Moreover, they learn from the researchers who are developing these insights, often working with them on state and federal grants.
At Peabody, students are involved in shaping the future of education. In 2005, we forged a partnership with Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools and South China Normal University, one of that country’s top ten education colleges, to train American and Chinese principals as leaders, managers, and education professionals. In 2009, we will host the first cohort of Fulbright international education scholars for a semester of training exchange.
The college also hosts groundbreaking events:
“There are so many opportunities for you to develop professionally rather than just develop intellectually. It really gives you an edge over other master’s students.” – Kulsum Zahir, M.Ed. ’06, Community Development Action, Community Investment Associate, United Way
