Douglas Perkins, Jill Robinson and Fieldschool students
Douglas Perkins led the 2007 Fieldschool in Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in southwest China. Students involved in the Fieldschool planned and implemented projects in the following four areas: health promotion, English language education in schools, rural development, and urban planning and development. Additionally, students designed a graffiti survey project after arriving in the host city, Liuzhou. Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in southern China, which borders Vietnam, is an area steeped in history, beauty and a rich culture. However, it has largely missed out on the rapid economic growth along China’s increasingly affluent coast. The 2007 Fieldschool focused on socio-cultural, health promotion, economic, educational and urban/regional planning aspects of community development.
