Personal and professional benefits of Girl Scouts affirmed
In an increasingly complex and competitive economic environment, organizations in all sectors are looking for capable leaders and managers. Leadership and Organizational Performance will prepare you to undertake these roles and build your skill and knowledge in leadership practices and management development. The program will teach you to understand the social context in which human learning, development, and performance take place and how you as a professional can shape those experiences constructively.
Graduates of the program are leaders who promote talent development, employee engagement and organizational performance by facilitating individual, group, and organizational learning and development. The program builds knowledge and sharpens competencies that can be applied in for-profit, non-profit, and public sector settings. These competencies include strategic thinking, managing ambiguity, critical thinking, leading and managing others, innovation and creativity, risk taking, conflict management, negotiation and influence, analytical thinking, intercultural adaptability, and learning agility.
The curriculum is built on and grounded in theory from the following disciplines: leadership, organization theory, behavior and development, learning, analytics, and strategy. Students choose electives from a variety of classes that include timely and provocative topics such as global diversity; individual and team development; problem-solving and implementation; consultation skills; talent management; and learning, technology and performance.
* As of Fall 2011, the Organizational Leadership and Human Resource Development programs will become part of the Leadership and Organizational Performance program.
