The community comes to us, too, through participation in projects such as the Summer Scholars Identity Institute and in education settings like the Susan Gray School located on our campus.
But our commitment goes beyond research outcomes. We’re focused on creating change for people now. Achievements include:
Kathleen Lane is working to build capacity in Tennessee’s Williamson County Schools to better serve this population and fulfill mandated positive behavior support.
Dan Reschly—a top-cited psychologist, expert witness, and former administrative law judge—publishes often about the impact of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act.
As vice-chair of the National Math Advisory Panel, Dean Camilla Benbow helps provide effective strategies for U.S. math teachers. She also is a National Science Board appointee.
Projects of the Fieldschool in Intercultural Education include graduate student research into the effect of educational grants on Quichua and Afro-Ecuadorian youth.
Over 80 undergraduate students will participate this year in the Mentoring High-Risk Youth class, which works with local high schools to increase gradation rates and college attendance.
